IBM T20 Problem (Freeze/Stuck while rebooting)

#1 Post by Azz » Sun Jan 21, 2007 1:58 pm

Hey

I have an IBM T20 (2647-41U) nootebook that I bought 2 weeks ago.
Everything seems to be ok when I bougth it until I get 3Com MiniPCI
combo Lan+Modem card cause I get the t20 without it.
Without the card I installed the system drivers and everything else
and laptop works brilliant.
So few days ago the 3com minipci have came so I put it into
the minipci slot and everything works brilliant but when I restarted
the nootebook for first the system stuck while windows was
booting, and it is happening all the time when I'm trying to restart
that machine, but when I turn it off and then turn on windows
load without any problems.

Maybe I should install other minipci combo bard except the 3com?

Any solutions fellows?

Thanks

Apparently, there have been several forum members that have reported those combo cards as having died on them. When the card dies, it can create the problem that you are getting.

You can always try to remove it and then reinstall it...

re, so my 3com combo is dying and that's the problem?
If I get another one (great condition) everything should back to normal?
I mean without the "restart anomaly".

Yes, a new card should solve your problem, if you have the correct drivers installed.

If you have the card working now, then it might be ok. It might have just been a hiccup in XP.

As for the wireless mini-pci card, you would need to add the antennas to be able to use it.

I had the same problem with a A20m. After I installed the Xircom my problems went away. Don't know why. Had the drivers, etc for the 3Com but it froze during boot. No problems for 6 months with Xircom.
