my T23 (2648-4NU i think), has 802.11b, 10/100 network, and v.90 dial up.
i just purchased a Broadcom 11g MiniPCI card.
from what i've reading though, the 802.11b card in the T23 also has the v.90 modem on it.
so if i put the 802.11g card in, that means my Phone port goes dead. right?
do they even make an 802.11g card that has a built in v.90 (or v.92) modem that works in the T23?
edit:
to clarify, i dont think i need the phone port. i rarely use them. i just dont want a "partially dead" system (phone port that does nothing).
the new WiFi card will mostly be for adding better compatibility (G speed, WPA, maybe Afterburner if the chipset supports it) and internet usage. the 11Mbps -> 54Mbps speed change is a minor thing to me (they are both slow lol).
with my luck, the only time i will need to use the phone port will be some time after it stops working.
just purchased Broadcom 802.11g for T23. losing the modem??

Yes, you will lose the 56k modem when replacing the factory wireless card with the Broadcom WiFi card.
I don't believe that a 802.11g + modem card exists, but I could be wrong. I've replaced several T23 wireless/modem combo cards with the Broadcom BCM94306 version and I don't miss the modem (yet). I have a PCMCIA modem around here somewhere so that's not really a problem.
I have found that Network Stumbler works with the Broadcom cards and with a generic driver and a Belkin wireless configuration utility, this thing connects seamlessly. From my home's 802.11b system, I hibernate the T23, take it to work, wake it up and it connects to the 802.11g WAP within seconds of being on. When I go home at night, the reverse works just as well.
