How Do I Boot From A CF Card?

#1 Post by jamiphar » Thu Feb 08, 2007 1:01 pm

I have a 1GB CF card with Debian loaded on it, I was going to try booting from it, but I can't figure out how. I have the card in a CF to PCMCIA adapter and I see the card in Windows, but I don't see it in the BIOS. Is there a way to boot from a CF card like this on my T23?

I'm not sure, but you can boot from a 1GB usb flash drive, you can get them for as low as $15 now, less if there's a rebate.

from newegg.com: SimpleTech 1GB Bonzai Xpress USB 2.0 Flash Drive, $7 shipped after $15 rebate.

Theres stuff on the web on how to make them bootable.

The PCMCIA drivers from a ThinkPad 560 will get you DOS level access to the CF card. You would still need to boot from something else though-- maybe floppy disk?
