Let me preface by saying that I've been a lurker for some time and I've found tons of info here, so thanks a ton.
I'm the proud owner of a t30 that has a Gig of Ram and as of today a new processor. It originally had the 1.8 Ghz sl6cj, but I just purchased the 2.2 GHz sl6vb and put it in tonight.
I watched the temps on my old processor before I changed them out and the fan would come on somewhere around the 50 C mark (maybe a little higher), but now that I've put the bigger processor in, the fan comes on about the 40 C mark. The fan doesn't run continuously, but almost.
I used Arctic Silver and followed their instructions to the letter. I know that there were two size fans out there and that I have the smaller, but that still doesn't explain why my fan would come on at such a low temp.
Has anyone run into this before or does any one have any suggestions?
Thanks,
Kip

If it buggers you a lot just install TPFanControl as a service. Adjust the settings to turn on the fan when CPU reaches 50C. If you need any more info PM me.
P.S. A friend of mine returned to me my old T30 which I supposedly sold it to him, but he was unable to pay for it. Right now typing on it, the 1.6GHz processor temp is 45C with the fan running at 3600rpm.
