NEC 6500 and the T22

the hardware interface (connector in the back of the burner) doesnt match, how did u get them to connect together?

If im reading it the way I should, the NEC would have a connector on the back about 1" wide while the thinkpad uses an Ultrabay 2000 connector.

Easiest way is to take apart your old ultrabay drive and pull off the back connector and mounting adapters.

Could you fit any optical dive, as long as it is slimline? (i.e. by exchanging the ultrabay 2000 brackets?) (IS it actually a bracket?)

I'm looking for an upgrade of my default t30 drive (24x cdr / dvd) to a dvd-dl writer, but the lenovo/ibm drives are a bit (understatement of the year) overpriced in comparison with for example NEC drives.

Ok I've done a bit of searching the forum; you can fit a 3rd party drive as long as you transfer te brackets from an ultrabay drive and cut off the lower right hand corner of the slimline drive's bezel.
