T23 - HDD snapping

#1 Post by Fusion » Mon Feb 12, 2007 5:45 pm

Hi all!
After not using my T23 for about 10 days, I turned it on and after a few minutes I realised it doesn't want to go into WinXP. The 20GB HDD just kept snapping like five times in intervals of 2 seconds.
So I took a 30GB I had lying around, reinstalled some stuff and here I am 3 hours later same problem on a disc that was OK before I put it in :(
Anyon have any ideas on what might have gone wrong?
Are the HDDs dead?

With the problem occuring with two different hard drives, I would vote for something being wrong with the laptop. A problem with the IDE interface maybe?

Download a copy of PC Doctor for the T23 from here:

PC Doctor for DOS - T2x systems

and run the Fixed Disk diagnostics.

Is there any way to get that on a CD?
I was just able to get XP up, only a few snaps, weird stuff.

So far through the test it has been showing 217-260-000-20070213-13-Hard Dik Drive: Failed (Error verifying sectors xxx-xxx).
I hope I can use something from the T20 to eventually fix this :(

Do you get the same error with both drives?

So I got two of these errors in the Linear Test.
Haven't tried the other HDD.
