Upgrading a T3x

I have a friend with a 1.8 T3X can he add a 2.2Ghz from the same t3x series?

Probably if the the CPUs are the same. I honestly don't see why the upgrade would make a difference. Those P4 chips get awfully hot, especially when you pass the 2GHz line.

If it is a processor from another T30, then yes, you can add the 2.2GHz processor...just make sure that the Arctic Silver is properly applied, because it will be hotter than the 1.8.

theres plenty of threads, try a search. personally i would not recommend the upgrade. the gain in speed is neglectable, the temperature and fan activity will rise really really noticeably. it's really not worth the effort.

i have used 1.6, 1.8, 1.9, 2.0 and 2.6 ghz models and can only say that the 1.6 was the quitest, the 1.8 was just a tiny bit noisier, but beginning with the 1.9 it was all just a big pain in the ear.
