T23 won't wake up from suspend or hibernate.

#1 Post by Phazer » Fri Feb 16, 2007 12:54 pm

I bought a T23 (2647-8MU) from eBay and as usual it had the HD wiped. I reloaded W2K with no problems, (NTFS) and everything except the "standby" and "hibernate" work. Neither one will wake up.

Standby problem: When I push the Fn+F3, it states it's going into standby and then makes 2-3 click type sounds, (my other T23 only makes one), then goes into standby. When I try to wake it up, it clicks, the fan turns on for a little bit and then nothing, all three indicators on the RH hinge stay lit up. If I power it down and then power it up, it comes on like it was shut down succesfully.

Hibernate problem: Hibernate is activated in power profile. It goes into hibernate OK, but when I wake it up, the black window with the white windows bar comes up. The white bar fills in all the way across and it says "restarting windows" or such. Then it just hangs there.

I updated to BIOS 1.16, (1.17 link wouldn't work) and have embedded controller 1.03a.

Any ideas.

This is just a suggestion, but did you download the latest hotkey utility from Lenovo?

Yeah, I let the Lenovo website auto select my system, (correct) and then went in and picked out the ones I wanted. The Hotkey driver is 1.31.0610. I then did the "software installer" also. I can't say that I went digging real deep though.

try uninstalling the intel IDE drivers and let windows use the default ones from microsoft

i had problems similar to yours and when i removed the intel ide drivers all problems were solved and in addition to that my hiberante time got quicker, now when i push the hibernate button it only tahes 17seconds to shut down, with the intel drivers it took 1minute+ with 768MB of RAM

good luck and post back!

Hmmmmmmm.....I'll try that later tonight or tomorrow morning. I kinda wondered if it wasn't a HDD issue or not. I had DL'd the Hitachi fitness program and it checked OK. I'll try switching drivers, THANKS!!!

Well now.....that went exceptionally well.........NOT!!!!!!

I guess I get to see how good my recovery skills are when I pick the wrong driver.

What was that you said about let it pick the "default" driver

Make note to self......listen to instructions

I reformatted the HD but did it in FAT32 this time, now standby and hibernate work, (with the same IDE driver as NTFS).

PROBLEM SOLVED

My t23 some times takes minute or two to comeback from hibernate or suspend. It will be a blank screen, no back light, then boom it comes on again.
