T30 Backlight Removal

#1 Post by Bucksnort101 » Tue Feb 20, 2007 10:26 am

I have several T20 Laptops that appear to have burned out backlights. Has anyone ever replaced the backlight on this unit? Looks like a pretty tricky prospect. Any sugestions on how to start or guides to help me tackle the task?

Sorry these are actually T30 Laptops, not T20's as mentioned in original post.

Have done it twice.

The LCD display was not clear but a bit yellowish.
After replacement it was crystal clear again.

Just open the lower part very carefully and take out the tube. Make sure not to disassemble the whole LCD, only the lower part.

Will take some time but the result is great.

Thanks, I did manage to get a couple taken apart. Some models have different LCD assemblies and are almst impossible to get a replacement backlight into them without breaking something. The Hitachi LCD seem to be a little easier.
