If you want to do it slow pickup a external USB drive, if you want it faster pickup the same drive and a 2.0 PCMCIA card...

I just bought a DVD burner in a carrier to fit my T30, it's home so I don't know anything about it yet, cost me $79 on ebay. The seller is in Mendham NJ right next door in the next town. Will see when I get home, it just came in..
I alway try to go that extra mile at work, problem is the boss always finds me and brings me back

The simpliest, yet probably most costly in the long run, is to get another hard drive of the same size as your current drive or larger, an Ultrabay 2000 Hard Drive adapter and whatever backup/cloning software you like to use. Insert the new drive into the Ultrabay adapter, install it in the system and run the backup software.

For my particular application I use additional hardware: a port replicator (FRU 02K8668) and a 600-series external floppy drive (FRU 05K6187). Why? Because I use a Norton Ghost 2003 boot floppy to perform the clone. Booting Ghost and running it off of the floppy drive means that Windows is not loaded so you don't have to worry about any background process or open file screwing up the backup. Of course it also means that you can't use the laptop during the backup procedure. Backing up to another hard drive means that you can simply install it into the laptop if and when your main drive has a problem. If your system still has the 12GB drive in your .sig, the backup/clone procedure shouldn't take more than 15 or 20 minutes.
