T22 Freezes under OpenGL applications

I have a similar issue running JRiver Media Center in Display or Theater View (uses DirectX) on my T22. Initially, the graphics run fine, then the temperature raises rapidly to 85 or so and the graphics (not the music) freeze up. The fan kicks in but the temperature stays. Already tried new thermal paste (though not Arctic)
