IBM T30 BIOS Upgrade

#1 Post by furiousmonkey » Mon Mar 12, 2007 7:40 pm

I was trying to upgrade my T30 bios to the newest version which is 2.10 for the ThinkPad T30 2367-KU3 I run the non diskette version but it does not seem to go through, I even ran a previous version and the same thing.

Second part question, does the newest bios update include all the other updates in the previous versions?

Thanks

Have you followed these instructions?
Notes:
- Remove the Power-on password prior to updating the BIOS in the RDM
(Remote Deployment Manager) environment or similar environment.
- You need an AC adapter and a charged battery pack to update the
BIOS.
- If a USB Diskette Drive is attached to your computer, turn off the
computer and detach it before proceeding.

If not, that me be the problem.
Any BIOS-update always includes all previous updates/changes.

I'm having the same issue, it reboots, but nothing happens (no errors, menus, screens,) it just boots back to windows.
I have
EC 1.03
BIOS 2.06

They seem to require higher versions to update, and incremental update doesn't work either...

Any idea?

The latest required embedded controller is EC1.07 (1IHT20WW), for use with the latest BIOS 2.10 (1IET71WW).

You update BIOS first, then update EC. Do NOT interrupt or switch power off while updating, you may need a new motherboard!
Also, do NOT use a USB floppy drive for these updates. Buy/borrow an internal Ultraport 2000 floppy drive, or use a burned CD from the available ISO images and boot from this CD.
You can also run these updates from within Windows, using a different version of these updates.
In both cases, you need a fully charged battery AND the AC-adapter connected before you start updating.

I know all of the warnings and such, but I can't get the BIOS to install. The versions are the ones I have, and I'm trying to upgrade to the most recent ones. I have been running updates from inside windows. I can't use a floppy (have a drive, no floppies,) and I can't find an ISO. Any chance you can point me toward one, as I didn't even know they existed until today.
