T23 still a great laptop.

Currently browsing the web, checking email, applying patches, IM's, AND on the phone with Expedia via Skype and my logitech headset(USB). All very smooth. In fact, it doesn't seem like I am taxing the system at all (as far as UI responsiveness is concerned).

:)

Yep, Even though I am moving to a T60 I still on occasion use a T23 and it is perfectly adequate for light /medium use.

My thinkpad T23 is still my best friend on the road despite of its age. In my company, everyone is using X31 and T42 while me however on my old faithful T23.....which were used for working and light presentation. Some of my colleagues were asking some questions back ago like " Why the USB port is at the back??" , " Ancient thinkpad you have!" . Its somehow interesting to get people notice on the old thinkpads you are using.

Been using mine for a little over two years as a main rig (dont have a desktop at home) and it's given me no problems except for the loose inductor problem earlier this month which I fixed. Only thing left to do is to get a replacement keyboard bezel, dvd/cdrw drive, add internal bluetooth and ill be done. I dont know why they didnt reinforce the right side bezel with metal like the left side. I see a lot of cracks happen there and make the right side screen and keyboard wobly.

I pick up my X31 this Friday. :D

I like my T23 a lot. Though, if I had the money, I would buy a new Thinkpad in a split second. But for the money, it's outstanding.

I just wish it had a better graphics card. I wish it could power my 19" widescreen at a native resolution instead of 1600x1200 stretched. But its size and form are definitely good.

I use my T23 as a desktop replacement with the monitor making a dual-screen set up and so on. It's good, I like it a lot, but I love the portability, nicer screen, and firmer feel of my X30 better.

I wish it had a better graphics card too. I think my new (to me) X31 should last a few years before I get a X61 tablet. My T23 still had 6 months warranty on it when I bought it and the X31 still has another year. Until then I might pick up a T4x series when they hit below $500.

You guys do know that there are PCMCIA graphics cards you can install in the machine right? Won't do much for your internal LCD, but will defineately run an external LCD or 2.

PCMCIA graphic cards? Does this thing exist? I thought of only PCI graphic cards. if it does.....it will be a MUST for my T23.

Just a quick google search.

I am sure if you were to refine the search parameters a bit, you'd get more accurate results.

ambientscape, why not get a pci card since you already have the 2631 dock?

Actually I was amazed to heard there such thing like the PCMCIA graphic crd. Well, the PCI grpahic for the dock poses lotsa compatibility issue.
