Undervolting the T30

#1 Post by BruceDickinson » Thu Apr 05, 2007 9:53 pm

I want to undervolt my T30 (specs below), but neither RMClock or NHC allows me to set (or even read) the CPU voltage. The options for setting the CPU voltage are all grayed out.

From my research of the issue, my best guess is that an advanced version of SpeedStep (EIST) is needed, but the T30's 845MP chipset does not support it (though the Mobile P4-M cpu does). EDIT: Correction. The 845MP chipset says it supports EIST. So this theory seems wrong.

Or perhaps the motherboard does not provide the needed support. Maybe it’s something else.

Have others been able to undervolt their T30’s? If so, how? What could I be missing here?

Thanks in advance.

There is a program available, that has the ability to choose voltage.
It's CPU-Z, available here: http://www.cpuid.com/cpuz.php
Don't know if it will work on your CPU though.

Thanks for suggesting CPU-Z. It's a great little program, but it also cannot read my CPU voltage. I don't think it has voltage regulation capability.

No undervolting the T30

Just to update anyone who might be interested.

With some help from other T30 owners on this board, I've concluded that the T30 is not capable of having its CPU voltage read or being manually undervolted (i.e. reducing the default CPU voltage for a given clock speed).
