Wireless a/b/G for T 30 (2366 86U)
I have a T 30 2366 86U. What is the best "internal" wireless PCI card a/b/g? IBM or Aftermarket? Where can I purchase?.....I'm the new kid on the block! Thanks Dontell1!

The Atheros-chip based cards are generally considered the best performing ones. Most have speeds up to 108Mb.
When installing a non-IBM one, you may be confronted with a minor incompatibility (but only at boot-time), the 1802 error.
This only happens with cards having an Atheros chip with a model-number larger than 5004.
This error can be corrected by modding that chip, if you feel so inclined.
This may put you off, but if you read up on it (start here and use 'Search' on the forums):

you'll find that the result is well worth it.
If you are after a plain-Jane card, check in with 'underclocker' in the Market Forum http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=35056

HELP!!!
I bought a (GIGABYTE WI01HT Wireless miniPCI card -Atheros AR5006XS Super AG single chip AR5414 108Mbps mini PCI adapter.
I also upgrade the bios before install. I also loaded the wifi-iso per instructions. Why am I getting a "01C9 error at bootup?
My Laptop is T30 (2366-86U)
Question: What is LINUX? I have Windows XP 2. Does the wifi-iso work with Womdows XP 2?

Looks like you did not do your homework!
For 01c9 see here:
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_w ... s#Solution
and lots more in the first link in my first post to you.
Linux is a different (free) operating system.
Using a Linux-CD as mentioned in some posts, you can get rid of the 1802-error and in some cases also of the 01c9 error. It has no influence whatsoever on your XP.
You only boot with this CD for the error correction(s).

Wireless a/b/G for T 30 (2366 86U)
This is the qoute at the bottom of the thinkwiki webpage:
The patch does not seem to work with chipsets above AR5004x due to some kind of EEPROM write protection. This protection is either hardcoded into the EEPROM, thus making it impossible to be changed by software. Or the write-enable channel of the EEPROM has been disactivated. Slight chance might be to program one of the chipsets' "General Purpose Input/Output" components to activate it. Yet this would require a GPIO's output to be connected to the write-enable channel of the EEPROM (depends on the circuit board layout).
Affected cards
Gigabyte GN-WIAG02 MiniPCI card (AR5005GS chipset) (01C9 can only be bypassed by pressing <Esc>).
Senao NMP-8602 MiniPCI card (AR5006X chipset) (01C9 can only be bypassed by pressing <Esc>).
SparkLAN WMIA-166AG MiniPCI card (AR5006XS chipset (01C9 can only be bypassed by pressing <Esc>).

Halfway down the 2nd page of my first post mentioned, you will find how to 'snip' a pin of the 'offending' chip. If yours has the same chip and is accessible, you can modify that yourself.
On my own card that chip is fully covered by a metal plate, which I don't fancy taking off. So I can't fix my 01c9 either.
I just hit Escape when booting, does not bother me at all.
If you boot e.g. only once a week and put your TP into hibernation at other times, you won't even notice the 'problem'.

Did you install the drivers for it?
It won't work 'out of the box'.
If it's a new card, return it under warranty. If used, did you get any warranty for it? Did they say where it came from, if used? Was it working before?
PS: I contributed the Sparklan card (and other related info) in the 'thinkwiki'.
