Warranty Questions

I have a T23 that I bought used which does not charge the battery at all. I've verified that the battery is good by using a friends T23 to charge the battery.

I checked the Lenovo site for the warranty status of my machine and it indicated that the warranty was good until 03/30/2007 so on 03/30/2007 I called IBM/Lenovo for service and they sent me a box to ship it to them.

After receiving the unit IBM/Lenovo instructed me that the item isn't under warrantly because the serial number on the bottom of the machine indicates that the item has an expired warranty though the internal serial number viewed by using the Thinkpad Configuration Utility or the IBM/Lenovo web site indicates another serial number.

Could the system board on my unit have been replaced? If so, would I still be entitled to warrantly service up and until 03/30/2007?

Is the date of 03/30/2007 throwing you? If so, let me clarify, 03/30/2007 is the day that I called IBM/Lenovo for service and also the day that the warranty was valid thru.
