my experience: T30 thermal grease applied

I have followed a 'best practice' found on this forum: changing the termal paste on my 2003 T30.
First of all, it has been an opportunity to remove a lot of dust from the fan.
This is the first time I open a notebook and apply a thermal grease, but following the HMM manuale it has been a joke.
My old pc needed this operation!!
Before the fan was always on, now it starts only when it's needed.
Now my idle CPU temp is 38 degrees, without the Antec cooler on!
I also noticed that the temperature falls down more quickly then before; I didn't found AS5, I've used 'Manhattan thermal grease'.
Definitely, a great and cheap way to give new life to an aged PC.

Congratulations! Last year I had fan problems with my T30, had to remove fan, but the thermal grease was spread out, so I had to buy a good thermal paste, I bought AS5, unfortunately I couldn't get a proper cleaning solution (ArtiClean 1&2 is recommended), just used Isopropyl Alcohol, but the laptop was still getting hot. After I got ArtiClean, the laptop dissipated the heat so efficiently I regret selling the machine, however going from a T30 to a T42p is a significant upgrade considering the money I spent upgrading.

The left keyboard area didnt even get hot at load!
