T30 running on battery

#1 Post by anneortim » Wed May 02, 2007 5:20 pm

When I run my T30 on battery it does something strange. After running about 45-50 minutes it will say the battery is low and then it goes to sleep. Fine. But if I then wake it up it will run another 45-50 minutes, all the while showing 0% charge remaining. Not a big deal and something I can live with, but if anyone has any insight into this I would like to hear it. TIA

I have an older battery that does the same thing, it's not really something that can easily be fixed. It loses it's power quite quick, and I actually have to take out the battery and reseat before resuming from hibernation.

Check the number of cycles on that battery. If it's nearing the 400-500 mark, replace it.

i remember reading about an ibm utility to recalibrate the internal logic of the battery. it might be that this utility is only available for models newer than the t30, though.
it should be accessible via the green charging indicator in the task bar.

do you have all the ibm soft installed and checked that?

Doesn't seem to be there, at least I didn't see it.

Yes, I believe I do. I use the IBM/Lenovo Software Installer/Updater.
