Can a 600/E/X backlight be used in a 13.3" T2x Panel?

#1 Post by jamiphar » Sun May 27, 2007 7:31 pm

The title basically tells the story. I'm thinking of buying a couple of 13.3" T2x screens in need of new backlights, but I couldn't find any lamps of this size on eBay. I did see ones for the 600/E/X ThinkPads, though. Would these possibly work for this?

Don't know if the 13.3" 600E/X backlights would fit inside the 13.3" T2x panels. LCDParts.net/Moniserv.com is selling what appears to be new backlights for $10 for that size. Shipping is an additional $10 (kind of high). What are the prices have you found on eBay?

Actually, that is the seller I've been buying from. And I just got a reply from him to the same question (I messaged him last week). He said they do have ones for the T2x 13.3" screens, and provided the link to this one: http://www.lcdparts.net/ccflDetail.aspx ... FL=MS20275
This is the one for the 600 series screens, but I guess he's saying they're interchangeable.

The prices are a little high, but I'd be ordering 3-4 at a time, and I think I can get combined shipping on those. If I can, then the price would be $50 for 4 of them.

When you get around to installing them into your 13.3" T2x panels, I'd be interested in hearing about it. As I've said before, I bought a parts T23 off of eBay awhile back that has a busted LCD. I'm going to use it as practice so I know what to do (and more importantly, what NOT to do :) ), before I try fixing a couple of SXGA+ panels with bad backlights.

Yeah, I could report back with the results. Maybe I should take some photos this time. I've replaced A30 and T23 backlights before, but I didn't think to take notes or pictures.

I just found this installation guide on the same site: http://lcdparts.net/howto/ccflisolder.aspx

It seems to be a pretty good guideline once you get to the lamp. But I guess photos of the actual LCD disassembly would be nice.

I've taken photos of a few recent backlight replacements, and I'm going to try to put a tutorial together. Once I'm finished with it, should I post a thread and link in the T2X/T30 forum, or should it be put in the "How To" forum?

Seeing how the "How To" forum is locked, just put it up here in the T2x/T30 conference. I too eagerly await your pictures and story... now I just gotta find those two SXGA+ panels and order a couple of backlights...

All right. I'll see what I can do in the next few days. Thanks!
