T23 HD bay dimensions.

#1 Post by Zaph » Wed Jun 06, 2007 4:39 am

Hello! Could someone tell me the HD bay dimensions, there seems to be a bit of confusion on the maximum height of a HD one could fit in there! I'm upgradint to Hitachi Travelstar 7K100 which reads 9.5mm height. Will this fit, what about the speck, it reads HD's upto 60G, this one is 80G will the T23 be able to access all of the space?

Yours cordially,

T23s will accommodate any 9.5mm IDE/PATA harddisk. Any 7K100 will do here. You can partition if you want/need. HD GB-Size is no problem.

I bought good T23 and T30 memory from 'fastmemoryman' on eBay

Several months ago I upgraded to an 80GB, 7K100 HDD (HTS721080G9AT00) in my T21 with no problem. I took the new drive and temporarily installed it in an external enclosure with a USB 2.0 interface and connected it to a Belkin USB 2.0 PCMCIA card. I used Acronis Migrate Easy ver 7.0 (free 15 day trial) to clone the existing drive. Then, I moved the new drive to the laptop. It worked without a glitch, first time, in about an hour.

I have not found a single program or function that did not work since using Migrate Easy to clone the previous 60GB HDD to the new 80GB HDD. I had to do nothing else. No other tweaking, no lost program preferences or options, no lost files no boot problems.

I'm still using the 60GB HDD in the external enclosure with SyncBack, to keep the TP data files in sync with my desktop system. That works great too.

How about a direct link to the good memory for t23, there are several but the cl rates are not listed. Can you remember which of the 512mb chips you bought?

Just a thought, it would save me some 80 dollars...
