Source for a 1 gig chip for a T30?

#1 Post by wrybread » Mon Jun 11, 2007 2:47 pm

I'm guessing this is in the forum, but it's such when I search for RAM I get a million hits in the archives. So I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source for a 1 gig chip for the T30?

I know I have to do the bios upgrade first.

According to Crucial, it's DDR PC2700 200-pin SODIMM, non-ECC RAM.

Maybe this would work?

Is there some source people here like to use?

The max RAM for that machine is 2x512GB for a total of 1GB. Crucial is as good or better than most, just get the 2x512MB PC2700 there. Lots of folks use memoryx as well.

As I understand it, if I upgrade the bios each slot will take a 1 gig chip...

Ah ok, well good luck then. Every major memory site would not have a listing for that special application. Hopefully you'll get an actual user recommendation here.

I'm pretty sure the T30 can have 2GB of PC2100, PC2700, or PC3200 RAM. My Compaq Evo N800C uses the same chipset (845MP) and it can support 2GB, even though all the sites say it can only have 1GB.

I have 2x 1GB Samsung PC2700 chips in my T30.
For this to work, you only need to make sure you have the latest BIOS.
Before you buy any, check that BOTH your memory slots work!
Otherwise even just 1 1GB-chip is quite good.
Check out Fastmemoryman on eBay.

But that's based on official documents published before 1GB sticks became available.

hello
i also run a t30 with 2X 1gb sticks also pc2700 if you look at the listings on ebay they often say which machine type will run with there ram, also only buy one stick unless your certain both memory slots are 100% reliable, for my self i found minor benifits from the 2nd gig but had to try , 1gig and a fast hard drive is the best, i'm sure others will have a similar opinion.
