New HD,T21, loaded Win2000, cant access internet -help...

#1 Post by IamtherforeIthinkpad » Sat Jul 21, 2007 4:54 am

Hi
I just put in a new HD in my T21, upgraded bios, all went well, but my LCD looks like its in Safe mode and I cant access the internet via the Windows 2000 programs I loaded from the Disk.
How do I get the T21 to recognize that my cable modem (ethernet) is present so I can download other drivers?

Your help appreciated.

With another machine, get the appropriate driver from the IBM support site, put it on a diskette or CD, and then use Device Manager on the T21 to update the ethernet driver. Point the update to the diskette or CD you just made.

There were some A machines that came with Windows 98 that you first had to load the 98 ethernet driver and make it work and then update to Windows 2000. I never figured out why.

Yes,
After a little frustration, and your guidance, I figured out what I needed to do.
All is well, new bios, new HD, looks like most drivers are working well.
Thanks for your help
And, didnt mean to double post.
