T21 Sound missing windows XP

#1 Post by olef » Wed Aug 08, 2007 3:42 am

Did have a full functioning T21 (2647-4AU) running Win XP SP2 fully patched.

Have re-installed XP SP2 and applied all the patches. Now the sound is gone, both in the internal speakers and when connecting a headset.

Hardware is recoqnized, drivers installed and found to be OK in devicemanager (Crystal Soundfusion).
Sound is enabled and volume adjusted to max.

Really need some advise to get the sound back again.

If you are sure that ALL volume sliders and mute buttons in Windows have been adjusted properly and that you have also pressed the volume "up" button a couple of times on the keyboard then it's time to download a copy of PC Doctor and run the Crystal Fusion test.

With Windows, check to see that all mute buttons for each individual sound source has been disabled. Launch Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices, click the Volume tab and then Advanced (or if the speaker icon is in the System Tray, double-click it). In the Master Volume window, make sure all of the sources you normally used are displayed: click Options/Properties and enable the checkboxes.

For the PC Doctor instructions, try this post:

Once you have booted PC Doctor, I think the Crystal Fusion sound test is under Diagnostics/Other devices. Again, make sure you have pressed the volume up button at least once on the keyboard before running the diagnostic just in case the mute button is stuck.

I agree with Ray, check the Volume up button above the "F" keys, as this often gets missed...

Thanks for Your advises.

I have pressed the volume-button several times, and sound level is shown on the screen, so I guess thats not the problem.

Did run the PC-Doctor, that showed the sound-card is present, and -the sound-card passed the test with a beep.

When rebooting after running PC-Doctor the sound is working fine !!!.

I didn't believe that DC-Doctor for Dos makes thanges ??
