Can my T30 record Video somehow?

#1 Post by Lightning » Thu Sep 27, 2007 9:25 am

I'm just curious. Sure, I do have a DVD burner on my desktop, but there is a HBO movie/documentary that I have saved on my DTV DVR that I'd like to save to DVD. I don't have a capture card in my desktop either... so I was wondering if there's some sort of device I could plug into a USB port that would have video/audio IN ports, and then I would probably buy a DVD burner module for the T30... or I could run RCA cables down to the device and hook it up to a desktop.

I have one of their internal cards in my desktop, works fine. The DVR software that comes with it is crap though - I use BeyondTV, Sage TV is also good. I think Sage may have a package where you buy the software and capture device from them together and save a few bucks.

Be aware that the USB on your T30 is 1.1, so you might want to either get a PCMCIA USB2 card or PCMCIA capture card.

I find s/w for this sort of thing a bit difficult to use (frame rates, sound encoders, etc), so personally I prefer to use my Sony DVD/HD recorder to make DVDs. These recorders are really cheap now and so much easier to use than a computer.
