T23 that doesn't turn on

#1 Post by auto_emocion » Thu Oct 04, 2007 12:58 am

Hi, I'm new here.

I have this strange encounter with my T23 2647-8MA

When I plug in the DC power, no charging light
Tried switching on the T23 via a good battery, no luck.
Tried using Adapter without battery, also can't.

What could have gone wrong.?

advise pls. thanks.

First of all, welcome to the forum :)

Now, except for the lack of a charging light, what exactly happens when you press the "on" button, with or without a main battery? Any LEDs flashing? Any beeps?

What happened immediately before you observed this problem? Normal shutdown, weeks of disuse, stopped normally one night and wouldn't start the next morning?

A weak point with the T23 appears to be the soldering on a coil near the CPU. If you search for T23 and coil you'll probably get a lot of hits to check out.

Otherwise the "standard" advice: remove everything not vital to the system, including the MiniPCI card (but leave in one RAM module) and try starting. If you get an error signal (numerical or beeps), then you'll have something to go on for further investigations.

Good luck!

There wasn't any action upon pressing power button.

I was using it as a charging station (bcoz it doesn't have ram in it) for days, finally decided to run in some heat, but just refuse to power up be it battery or AC or combination.

Left the set untouch for 10hours, came home and found it working again... strange behaviour.....

Anyway it is working now..... :)

System reset....

Try a system board reset....

pull out cmos battery, no a/c, no batteries, take out hdd and ultrabay (cd rom probably).

Hold down power button for 20 seconds.

let it go, then press again for 20 seconds.

Put it all back together and see if it works.

This is always worth a try.

I worked in a very large company (+20,000) and 80% of the employees in 2002 or so had T series. I was the person who fixed all the broken ones for about 2 years.

About 5% of the time, when they were dead like that, a reset is all they took.

Good luck.
