T22-display problem after reinstall

#1 Post by syrenab » Sun Oct 14, 2007 1:57 pm

MyT22 (2647-4EU) has been working perfectly for long,long time - running Win2000-Pro SP3.
A week ago some WINTT files got trashed. I ran through many to repair from original Win2000 disk. Finally I gave up and reinstalled Win2000. Now the screen runs as VGA (not SVGA) 16 colors 800x600px mode.
All the original Thinkpad files are installed working, excepy I have lost sleep mode.
Display was fine up to re-installation.
BTW - the original I386 folder appears to be OK

How do I find and reinstall the correct display drivers?

I had standby/hibernate problems on a T22 or T23, (can't remember) and I tried everything. Reloaded W2K and problem was solved. I don't know what was missed/goffed up but it cured it. Considering you already did it once, I'd try a re-load again, (with restore disks I would assume).

Is it safe to assume you've been here?

Couple of things:

- VGA is 640x480
- SVGA is 800x600
- your 2647-4EU should have an XGA display; 1024x768
- that your system is running 16 color mode (in VGA or SVGA) could be due to using a recovery disk set not specifically for the T22
- drivers are available from here: Drivers and Downloads for T22/T23

T22 problems after reinstalling Win2K Pro

#5 Post by syrenab » Wed Oct 17, 2007 1:47 pm

After reinstalling Win2000 Pro from original CD (not T22 CD) all my original Thinkpad files are there. Why Win2K doesn't find the drivers is a mystery. I manually installed the XVA screen driver, so that is OK.
Also I manually reinstalled all the Thinkpad utilities, Hotkeys, Configuration utility, power management utility, etc. All work fine.

BUT I have been trying on and off for 3 days to get back on to the Internet.
I cannot get Win to recognize my Ethernet adapter or Wireless adapter (Programs recognize the Wireless Adapter program and the adapter light is blinking - I reinstalled from the original CD.)
I downloaded the Intel driver package for the Pro/100 SP Adapter, but cannot install - I get message "Windows Management Instrumentation service is not running"
The WMI is in HIVESYS.inf in C:\I386, but I can't recover it.

I was forced to reinstall Win2K when repairs of some WINNT files that got damaged, failed. Up to that moment both Ethernet and wireless connections worked fine

Any suggestions? .

I wish I were sailing!!!!
