What are the Intel part number for T30 appropriate processor

#1 Post by motero99 » Wed Oct 31, 2007 10:55 am

I have a T30 2366-41U that will not boot - only the fan goes on. It has been suggested in this forum that I most likely have either a bad CPU or a bad MB. I have decided to try the processor first. A search on EBAY for T30 cpus shows mostly 2.0 processors. I would also like to check out a 2.2 or 2.4 processor. Can anyone tell me the Intel number for those speeds that will work in a T30. I know that the same processor worked in other vendor laptops and it would expand my possibilities to search under the Intel number rather than T30. This worked for a T20 where I ended up with a Dell version of a T22 processor. Also, will the fan from my 1.8 work with a faster processor or should I upgrade the fan as well? thank you

Get the Hardware Maintenance Manual. Most answers are in there.

I would not go for anything faster than the 2.0 CPU, because of the heat.
You would need a different fan for a 2.0 CPU or higher. See manual.

I'm running a 2.2 in mine, which carries the part number SL6VB. The 2.4 is a SL6VC. I haven't run into any heat troubles with mine yet, but whenever I'm on AC power and doing anything major I have it on a cooling mat anyway.

To be honest with you, my 2.2 replaced the 2.0 that I had and I can't say I noticed much difference.

Mine will not boot with DIMM in front memory slot. Front memory slot is now empty and my T30 2366-81U boots fine.
