[T30] Memeory Slot broken! What to do?

#1 Post by ulix » Mon Nov 12, 2007 4:48 am

Hi at all,
my love, the thinkpad t30 doesn#t work well. So i found out that the memory slot is bust. So what should i do? The thinkpad is out of warranty. Should i buy a new mainboard, or give it to the ibm service?
How much does this cost?
Thanks
regards form germany
cheers

If you would spend some time in this forum, and look up things like T30 memory slot / problem, you would have found all the answers already.

Hi,
i can't find a perfect solution. to use paper, but this doesn't work, i tested. What will the do when i send it to ibm, and they replay the board? How much is this? The other slot is fully broken and can't be used.
thanks
cheers

It's cheaper to find a used T30 motherboard and replace it yourself.
You'll find all the info about which mobo's in my answer to this post:
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?t=51349
as well as in the T30 Hardware Manual:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-42308

This eBayer in the UK ships worldwide: http://tinyurl.com/34hqmh

You'd have to reckon with an average price of $100.- or more (or less if you can snipe it on eBay), but with the cheap $-Euro exchange that's not bad at all.

Sending it in to IBM will cost you an arm and a leg (and probably a kidney or two...).
