T23 Need Wifi Recommendations (not built-in)

#1 Post by anothertattoo » Tue Nov 13, 2007 11:52 am

What are people in the forum using that works? Linksys? Cisco Aeronet? I had a nightmare of troubleshooting my Verizon WWAN card (both Audiovox and Sierra Novatel cards) that never worked so I want to make sure I get something that has been a success for an internal home wireless network. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Equipment I have personally used:

Internal MiniPCI cards:

- original IBM modem/802.11b combo card
- Broadcom BCM94306MP

PCMCIA cards:

- D-Link DWL-650
- Netgear MA401

Realistically, you should be fine with any PCMCIA card as long as you are using the correct drivers/OS and are matched to the transmission system used by the wireless access point (802.11a, b, g and/or n) and encryption method.

I use Ralink 2500 (b.g) and absolutely love it. Works great in XP and in most Linux distros that I've tested.
