T 20 Value? just asking how much it's worth

#1 Post by jamerslong » Fri Nov 16, 2007 9:09 pm

i have an IBM thinkpad T20 with the following, i would like to know it's value.

T22 HeatSink with 900 MHz P3
120Gb Travelstar 5200 RPM
Modem\10/100 card switched for Artheros WIFI B/G
13" XGA
X4 CDRW DVD combo
2 hour battery
cosmetically 7 of 10
Total investment is about 200$
100$ for the laptop :) then the complete overhaul

A lot of folks go for cosmetic condition. 7 out of 10 doesn't sound that great. Can you post pics and also describe the exact condition including any scratches and the exact LCD condition(white pressure marks, scratches, dust in the screen, red tint on power up, dead or stuck pixels). You get the idea...more info needed. On the surface it sounds like it may be worth $200 :). How much RAM does it have?

IMHO, you'll get more for this machine by parting it out...and that's pretty much the only way you can hope to pull the funds invested out of it...

yeah, it isn't in the greatest of shape, it has white pressure marks on the screen and they aren't too bad, the corner of the case on the base part is cracked, worn keyboard, missing some of the black screw sticker covers.

It might be worth what you have into it on EBay, probably not here though. I have a basically mint T21 for sale here (the one in my signature below) for not too much more $$. It has drawn zero interest.

And if you do that you'll be married to it...

I wouldnt be too hasty to get rid of it.

You may need a backup while your Dell is in the Shop.

Betcha it still is running strong when the Dell is dead and buried. :P

yea, it is a dell. i recived it today and i must say that it is Extreamly durable. much more than my T20. it feels like it would survive a 6Ft drop as compared to my T20 which feels like it would not survive a 2 foot drop.

its huge and bulky though. but i cant complain about a free laptop.
