Post codes
Post codes
I have a code reader, but the definitions are very vague.
Is there a place to find more in depth meanings of the POST
codes?
Thinkpad T21
Thanks

All I can say is....Wohoo!!!!!!!
Anyway, Turn on the computer and all the lights come on, then off
with just the power light still on. No post on the LCD, no post
on an external monitor plugged in. Fan runs. and then it sits
and stares back at me. No beeps no bells, no whistles.
I bought a PC Analyzer and it stops at code 88 which is between
power-on display and programming after setup
Thanks a million for your help so far!!!!

It sounds like your patient may be suffering from the 'Blink Of Death'.

Did you try and remove all unneeded hardware (especially modem card), and then add 1 component at the time before rebooting?

Yes, even the LCD display with an external monitor hooked in.
The cd/rom with a bootable disk in it spins and tries to do
something, I can hear the head moving around.
The Analyzer card shows that it stops at either the
Initialize bus types, or the stuck key and batch test.
I've had previous BOD's before, this doesn't act the same
as they have. This one flashes all the lights and then the power
lights stays on with the CPU fan running.
Thanks
Darren

I'm assuming that the analyzer card is being plugged into the MiniPCI slot in place of the modem, correct? If so, what does the system do without the analyzer card installed? Also, have you determined if the memory module(s) are correct for the system and functional? You need to be using "low density" PC100 or PC133 modules. This means 16 chips for a 256MB and 8 chips for a 128MB. You can also try booting the system without any memory and you should get a 1-3-3-1 beep sequence.

I'm following this thread with great interest, since I have an A20p with identical symptoms. This is not the BOD I have seen that in several T2x boards.Turn on the computer and all the lights come on, then off
with just the power light still on. No post on the LCD, no post
on an external monitor plugged in. Fan runs. and then it sits
and stares back at me. No beeps no bells, no whistles.
Incidentally, booting the system without any RAM modules has no effect in my case: no beeps, symptoms otherwise unchanged.
