T30 CD Drive Issue

#1 Post by NorrisCell » Sun Dec 09, 2007 1:04 am

I'm hoping someone has had this issue before and can shed some light on the problem. I searched and couldn't find anything.

I'm attempting to reinstall XP before I sell my T30. The computer won't boot from the CD drive. In fact, it only recognizes it if I boot Windows, eject the entire drive, then reinsert it.

If the drive is indeed dead, does someone have a method for installing XP without booting from CD? I have a floppy drive if it helps, and I can also boot from USB.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Wouldn't you want to replace the drive anyway to sell it for top dollar? Defective laptops are not good sellers ...

Absolutely. The drive will be replaced before it's sold, I just want to have the computer ready to go in the meantime. I also want to make sure that it is indeed an issue with the drive.

You could always install XP via your network from another PC/TP/Server.
