Upgraded my Ram to 1gb

#1 Post by plasticorange » Mon Dec 31, 2007 9:10 pm

Frequent lurker, just wanted to share that I upgraded my RAM from 256 to 1 gb. I have the dreaded memory slot problem, but at least have one working memory slot.

The time from pushing the power button to login on my gmail homepage before the upgrade was:
2:40
3:05
2:48
3:07
2:51

After the 1gb upgrade it is:
1:30

It has a 4200rpm 80gb HD in it now, but I am thinking about replacing it with a 7200 rpm HD.

What kind of speed will the faster HD get me, anyone have any hard numbers on startup boot reductions?

thanks
jeremy

can u imagine doubling or tripling the CPU speed? HD is the greatest bottleneck so go for it...
