How to disable "Fan error" on Boot. / ISO recovery

#1 Post by wjgranda » Mon Jan 14, 2008 8:54 pm

Hi to all!! Greetings from Colombia!

My two questions for today:

1) I have a nice T21, with the fan fixed to work everytime (Fresh air). Maybe there is a way to turn off the "Fan error" on boot?

2) Where can I find an ISO of the recovery cd for my T21?

Regards to all Thinkpadders!!!!

Will.

I have an iso of the recovery disk for the T series, if you can teach me how to "post" it I can make it available to you, or ship you a set (shipping costs about $20 FEDEX 2nd day air).

How big is the ISO?

If it is under 1GB, I will let you upload to my website's FTP for download.

PM me to discuss. :)

Winslow is going to upload the files via FTP to my website, for you to download (the ISO of the recovery CD's)

There will be 2 ISO's at ~700mb each.

When they are done uploading, I will send you a PM with the username/password info to download with.

You will need an FTP client to download these files. I suggest (and use personally) Filezilla which can be obtained HERE.

Good! thank you!! I´ll be waiting the instructions to download that ISO´s, I use Download Accelerator, it has a FTP manager.
Any idea for the "Fan Error" disabling instructions??

Regards,

Will.

Winslow was going to work, when this issue came up, so he told me he will start ulpoading after he gets home from work in ~10 hours (this was an hour ago or more). As for the fan error, I will let the senior members take the helm on that one. I am still learning a lot about these machines myself! :)

As long as you directly run the fan off another source (i.e. not the 'official' fan connectors, you will keep that error.
Either get a new fan, or replace the motherboard, or 'fix' the original fan-connection.

In NYC in the place that I was buy my laptop saids of that main board costs approximately US$250, here in Colombia costs approximately US$90, I was paid for a new fan system US$50 included the service of fixing the system for keep always turned on the fan (I was broken the fan I don´t know how, maybe short circuit)

In the USA the fan costs approximately US$10.

To fix that boring "fan error" on my T21 I will need to replace the main board... TOO EXPENSIVE! So, the only way is to learn how to live with that. Meanwhile somewhere heats their brain to know how to disable that alert, I think maybe somebody in this planet know how to cheat with that alert.

Thank you all Thinkpadders!!! Greetings from Colombia, land blessed by God.

The "recovery disk", which is ~200Mb has been uploaded, but there was a small issue with the "boot disk" image upload, so it didn't finish it's upload (it is about ~600Mb) Winslow has said he will reattempt to upload that one when he gets home today.

In his own words:

The ISO's are ready for download (big thanks to Winslow for providing them!!).

PM me for the FTP Username and password you will need to connect with.

You will need some sort of FTP program.

**** I will keep these images up on my server for download, should someone else need them as well! ****
