Hi all...
Is the bios chip for T23 soldered onto the board? I am asking because I have a T23 here which suffered a failed bios update (T23 is owned by a friend).
In my experience with a bios failure on my compaq presario (model 915US) before was that it can be removed/pried out of its plastic base. I have not seen the insides of a T23 before so I have no idea if the bios chip for this model is similar to the one I described for compaq.
Lastly what is/are the alternative/s just in case... mobo replacement?

Yes, it's soldered. But if the computer will still boot, you can simply repeat the BIOS update and everything should be OK.Is the bios chip for T23 soldered onto the board? I am asking because I have a T23 here which suffered a failed bios update
If it won't boot, about the only thing you can do is check to see if the Phoenix BIOS has an "emergency", non-overwritable section to recover from a failed update. I know this is often the case with desktop computers, but have never seen anything about this in Thinkpads.
The newer Thinkpads all have soldered BIOS chips too. Not much except the CPU has a socket in these laptops.
