thinkpad button not working

#1 Post by mattbiernat » Wed Jan 23, 2008 7:48 am

the thinkpad button in my T23 stopped working... anybody knows what exactly do i have to download from the lenovo website to get it fixed?
EDIT: there is also a huge exclamation mark next to the "IBMPMDevice" in system devices/computer management. I tried fixing it but it could not locate the correct driver...

For the IBMPM device I believe you need the Battery Maximiser and Power Management Features, (I would also install the ACPI to be safe).
For the ThinkPad button you need to go from the driver site to the Utility Matrix site and get the Display / Hotkey driver.

im sorry i don't quite get it. Why do i have to go to the driver site and what do i have to download from the driver site? for the Utility Matrix site i did download Display/Hotkey driver and i have installed it however the thinkpad button is still not working.
EDIT: the PM device is working correctly. thank you so much. however the thinkpad button still fails to respond.

mmm now I read my post again, I agree it wasn't all that clear.
I meant the power drivers from "drivers" and hotkey from "utilities", but you seem to have been able to untangle my post.
The only other things I can think which could help are the Access IBM, from the driver site, and the Configuration Utility from the utilities site.

there is no "access IBM" on the driver site. there is only "access IBM Guide"

that's the one, that should be what opens when you press the TP button.
