T23 board with detatched inductor - link to image for info

Nice image of T23 board with a detached inductor posted by "daedalvs " in the German Thinkpad forum. Interestingly enough, this was the exact same inductor that was missing on a board I bought. Replacing the inductor repaired the board, and I'm now using it in a T23 put together with parts.

Nice shot, thanks! Any tips for soldering it back on? 25W iron, flux used, solder?

I did it very simply: put a thin film of flux paste on the mainboard pads and the corresponding tabs of the inductor, set the inductor on the mainboard and heated each tab as close to the mainboard as I could with a 24V, 48W iron at around 250°C for several seconds. That was satisfactory in my case.

Ray (rkawakami) advises using solder paste on the inductor tabs, which is probably even better, but I didn't have any at the time.

I found it quite easy to reattach the inductor to the mainboard even for someone like me with little soldering experience.
