Popped a key off, can't get it back on

#1 Post by wisgro » Mon Feb 04, 2008 1:49 pm

Removed my T23 keyboard and inadvertently popped the right arrow key off. I have the key and the rubber pyramid shaped spring. At first the rubber stayed on the keyboard. After multiple attempts to get the key to stay on the rubber came off too. I hesitate to use adhesive because I know the keys clip on somehow. Scrutinized everything with a magnifying glass and still can't figure out how it clips on. Any advice greatly appreciated. I don't want to buy another keyboard if I can reinstall the key.

Popped key off, can't get it back on

Thanks. I checked the pics. I need instructions for putting this key back onto the board. Google found a message fragment from a guy on this forum named James who stated that the scissor shaped retainer has to be placed precisely onto the board then pressed down till it pops back on. Hmm. James posted a link to this forum which leads to an old discussion about the difference between an IBM and Lenovo keyboard. That leaves me 10,000 feet without a parachute. I opened the scissor retainer under the key cap but can't see where to "precisely" place the key. When I let the key go the scissors collapse under the key cap weight as one would expect. Looks like I can't get there from here. Bummer. I don't want to buy another keyboard just because of one key...

Same thing happened to me and read that same e-Bay posting and the same forum posting and I finally said the hell with it and got a brand new T23 keyboard for around $20. It was better than the one I had.
