T30 battery problem
I have a problem, for the last 2 weeks, the battery doesn't want to recharge more then 79% and will only last 17 minutes. Do you know what could have happened and what I should do to resolve the problem? The battery is 3 weeks old and used to hold ±2 hours. The only change on my t30 is the Bios and controller update and the Atheros card installed and working fine. I forgot to say that I have two A/C adapters and a docking station and tied all 3 to see if any difference. All charged the battery to 79%. I also removed and reinstalled the battery with no improvement.

Is that battery an original IBM, or from a reliable supplier (who)?
If not, it's electronics might not be up to standard.
IBM has recently started to sue imitation-makers.....

As stated many a times before on this forum, eBay feedback is next to worthless. Take it from someone with excellent feedback.
And there's a bad battery in every batch, regardless of manufacturer...
It seems to me that (at least) one of the cells in your battery is shot. You should try borrowing a known good battery from someone, and see what happens. And, if I'm correct, you should return yours for a replacement/refund.
Good luck and let us know.

T30s have not been manufactured for quite a few years now.
Original T30 batteries have also not been made for quite some time.
That original battery may have been lying on the shelves for 2-3 years, and it's still brand new, but ...
Li-Ion batteries have a life-span of 3-4 years at best.
After so many years of not-being-used it will have lost a fair bit of it's original capacity.
Use the Battery Maximizer program to read out the battery data, year of manufacture, original charge capacity, current charge capacity, number of cycles, etc.
That should tell you how 'sound' that battery is.
The eBay posting makes may hair stand up... what a fake...

I can't find the Battery Maximizer in my task bar. When I right click the battery, I can open the power meter and the detailed information of the battery but no Battery Maximizer. How could I install it?

Thank you again for your precious help. I installed the battery MaxiMiser and found out that my "new" battery was build on 2003-04-09 and first used in 2003-06. That makes it 2 years older then my laptop. I contacted the seller and hope for the best. What should be the specification of a new battery? Less then 2 years old or better?

I am quite happily using a Made-in-China aftermarket battery with 4.400maH.
Bought from a Hong Kong ebayer, Campus111, but since IBM is sueing some battery manufacturers, he is no longer selling them.
There is another one going on eBay in the next 20-25 minutes if you are quick. Good price too.
