T30 CD-RW/DVD

#1 Post by pdrachman » Mon Feb 18, 2008 5:17 pm

Funny problem - my combo CD-RW/DVD (FRU 08K9785) plays all CDs and DVDs fine.

However when I try and record onto a CD-R, using Record Now 7 - it now only starts to record and then stops after 3 or 4 minutes apparently because the new CD-R is dirty! So I tried two more times and also sued a CD lens cleaner - but it won't record the whole thing. The unit may have been dropped. Before this it recorded properly.

Could you please advise how to diagnose the source of the problem, and what to do to get it to record a whole file.

Thankyou, Philip

Swap out your ancient RecordNow program for the free cdburnerXP here: www.cdburnerxp.se

Get a drive testing program here: http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

Hello,

I ran Nero Cd-DVD speed 4.7.7.15 - it came up with the following error message:

Sense code 00 (No Sense)
00000 NO ADDITIONAL SENSE INFORMATION

Could you please advise what to do.

Philip

I don't find any explanation for that anywhere.
It probably means your drive is fuxored.

You can also get PC Doctor for your T30:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-56222
You will probably need another PC to burn this CD, and hope your T30 will boot from it.

Try also this other program: http://www.testmyhardware.com/test_cd-rom.html

To properly test CD-drives, you will need to buy test-CDs, test-programs and/or test-hardware.

In the end it may be cheaper to get another drive on fleabay.

Downloaded and ran both programs - they found no problems with the CDRW.

It plays, but cuts out just before completing a burn!

This may not apply and may also sound dumb, but I'll throw it out there "just in case."

Have you looked for a "firmware" update for the drive itself? or performed one already recently?

See if this helps: apply this Regedit change, deleting the upper limit and lower limit as described by 'John Will' in this post
