Atheros client utility

#1 Post by lemmerdeur » Wed Feb 20, 2008 5:09 pm

I have installed the Atheros card in my T30 but I can't connect to any wireless network. I run windows XP and the wireless setup has been disable by Atheros. In Atheros client utility, when I go to diagnostic and troubleshooting, it tell me that my client adapter is not associate to an access point, configure the radio card and set SSid and other properties. I tried everything I could but it doesn't work. Also I tried to connect with a 2wire 2700HG and it doesn't have a USB port and will not let me set manually because of Atheros program. Could I have some help?

I just spend over one hour at the «GEEK SQUAD»(Best Buy) and they told me that there was a conflict between the Atheros program and the windows program for the wireless connection. The hardware device manager says that everyting is working properly but there is no way to connect with a wireless network. They sugest I removed the Atheros program but they don't know if the card would work without it.
What should I do?

I would remove the Atheros Client program, and allow Windows to manage your wireless network.

Remove the program and then reboot. Click>Control Panel>Network Connections.

Right click your Wireless Network Connection in that dialog and choose properties. Under the tab Wireless Networks, select the check box at the top that allows Windows to control the connection.

Underneath you then add all of the signon info for your router.

I have always let Windows manage my connections, and it works great. Saves you the extra overhead of the client software, or the IBM Access Connections manager.

I have had good luck with the utility untill about a month ago (six to eight months good). I removed all my settings (SSID's and searched for availble networks) with no luck. It was quicker and easier to un-install the program and turn on WZC (Wireless Zero Configuration). For now it will stay like this untill I have some free time to fiddle with it.

I have the exact same Atheros card in my T30 (see sig).
It works with all programs that I have, IBM Access Connections, Windows wifi, Atheros Client, Netstumbler and BVRP Connection Manager Pro.
I use these drivers from Sparklan:

There is all sorts of info for your 2wire 2700HG here: http://www.2wire.com/?p=266

RTFM!!!
