t22 keyboard problem: 7 keys not working

#1 Post by tom lightbody » Wed Mar 12, 2008 7:32 am

the keys not working are:

"b","n","/",spacebar,left arrow,right arrow,down arrow

removal of keyboard reveals nothing obviously "owner fixable."

is there any hope?
the way up and the way down are the same (heraclitus)

Sounds like there may be a crack in the 'film'.
Don't think that's fixable.

Yep, a crack or liquid spill that didn't evaporate without leaving a film that covers the contacts. It takes a lot of work to disassemble a keyboard and the contact film is actually an envelope not just two sheets. The contact sheet is designed to prevent liquid penetration and has been fused together around the contact patches but it also will hold liquids and not allow to dry for days....hence the film.

Been there, done that.

Could be all the salt-sea air, eh Tom? If you need a replacement, you know where to find me.

P.S. Great to hear that you're now on this side of the Prime Meridian :) .
