That T21 with the display problem

#1 Post by linuxcomputers » Sat Mar 29, 2008 6:07 am

I have a T21, it has some sort of display problem. I put the 8Gb 'drive that I had lying about because I'd taken it out of the A20m the screen goes white, like back-lighting so it might be the screen.
I have incorporated a company called linuxcomputersolutions Ltd (Number 6376832). Any computers that go through my hands get Mandriva-Linux fitted. I own a A20m 500MHz, 320Mb, 40Gb and a 800MHz T21 that has 384Mb SDRAM Without a HD or a working screen

I would definately check the LCD cable connections, prior to buying a replacement LCD.

Have you tried hooking it up to an external monitor via the VGA out port?

Like I said in our PM exchange, I will try to record and upload a video of the LCD panel replacement in a T2x machine, this weekend.

LCD cable and the cable connector to the LCD panel. No reason why a change in the drive should affect the display.

One thing I might note: I had a T21 with a backlight problem, nothing helped and the display was 100%OK. Cleaned the display plug on the mainboatrd with a toothbrush and isopropanol and suddenly everthing's OK. So my advice is: never give up :)

I would like to also mention that re-seating of cables and connections is free, just time spent.

As it was before I got the laptop I don't know for sure but I think the display went u/s then when he decided to donate it to me he took the drive out

I will check the screen connections though, before I even think about pricing a screen.
