Just got a thinkpad T30, question about keyboard

#1 Post by sarafeen » Wed Apr 02, 2008 2:27 am

I know this is going to sound a bit silly, however I can't figure out
how to type the letters IOPJKLM...because the other little letters below those on the keys show up. How do I rectify this? I havbe never had a laptop before and have never experience this on a reg. pc.
I hope you can understand what I am trying to say here and offer advice. I know it just must be a stting problem.
Thanks in advance.

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

It seems like your keyboard has been placed into the NumLock (Number Lock) mode. You can shift in and out of enabling the number keys instead of the usual letters by holding down one of the Shift keys and pressing the "ScrLK/NumLk" key. When you do that, there should be a light above the F7 key which looks like an upward pointing arrow with a number "1" inside. When lit, that signifies that the keyboard is in the Number Lock mode; it should normally be off.
