T22 need help

#1 Post by Paul88 » Sun Apr 27, 2008 5:50 pm

Hi everyone,

I just got T22 back from my brother who said it won't boot up. I did test it since first day and it worked just fine. However, last night, I found exactly the same problem that my brother told me. It didn't boot up. The led blinked once when I plugged adapter in and that's all, nothing after that. I think my T22 has BOD problem..
Anyway, it boot up this morning for 20 minutes and fall asleep. I haven't tried to wake her up yet.

I really do not want to let her away or to ebay. I had her for 2-3 years
before I gave her to my brother and then I got her back last Friday. I wish she will stay with me for a while. I did follow some suggestions from member forum; disconnect CMOS battery and hit start button for 30 sec three times but didn't help. What else can I do?

Please any help, I appreciate.

Thank you,

Paul

Unfortunately, there hasn't been a definate cure yet. Your best chance is to replace the systemboard. Other than that, just keep watching the BoD threads for a cure...

Thanks for your response. Is it difficult to change MOBO? I don't know
how to do this thing. I just download Hardware maintenance for T22 and
will see whether I can do it by myself.

If you follow the Hardware Maintenance Manual to a "T", and carefully track the screws, it is pretty easy. Easier than the T4x series, IMHO.

I Replaced Mine

#6 Post by nikki605 » Tue Apr 29, 2008 11:36 am

I replaced the motherboard in my T21 with the help of the HMM and the great folks here. I had never taken a laptop apart before and was really nervous about it

But, I did as they suggested using the HMM as my primary guide, kept all the screws and other parts grouped as I took it apart and just reversed the process to put it back together. That was a year ago and my TP is still running.

The worst part for me, was getting a good replacement motherboard. Does it work, has it been damaged, does it have its own "undiscovered" problem, have passwords been set in BIOS that no one knows about, etc?

But, give it a shot. My T21 is now 7 years old and I still love it. I'm glad I took the plunge rather than give up on it.

Hi Gary,

Thanks for all those inspiring and encouraging words. I'm in a process of thinking what should I do with my (used to) trusty T22.
It's physically in great shape and I has an eager to bring her back
from excessive daytime/nightime sleepiness but I might not be
able to do so.

Wish me best of luck and again, thanks so much. I appreciate.

Paul
