HD Jumper settings using UltraBay 2nd HD Adapter

#1 Post by robert213 » Thu May 15, 2008 1:15 pm

This is my first time placing an extra Travelstar HD into my UltraBay 2nd HD Adapter...

After examing both my Hitachi 100GB and IBM 40GB HD's, I observed Master/Slave/Cable Select jumper pin settings printed on the label.

Currently, both HD's are set as Master (no jumper). Since both HD's arrived without a jumper pin, I couldn't set Slave (vertical pin location) or Cable Select (horizontal pin location) -- even if I wanted to.

My question...

I own IBM T30. Does it matter what jumper pin setting (Master, Slave, Cable Select) that I use -- when placing my HD in my UltraBay 2nd HD Adapter?

You do not need to use any jumper. I've used 2nd hdds for over 6 years in bay adapters without jumpers or problems.
