0175 Bad CRC1 Stop Post on my T21

#1 Post by jhussain » Wed May 28, 2008 9:54 pm

Hello!

MY IBM T21 is giving me the Bad CRC1 error. I took to a shop and they told me that Security chip need to be replaced. I wonder if I just replace the whole mother board, will that be O.K?
Do I need any system recovery disc etc. after I replace the MB? I do not have any IBM system or hardware CD.

Thanks.

If you're lucky nothing happened to the hard drive. Just replace the systemboard.

If you want to read-up on the possible causes and possible solutions read this thread. In brief, if you want to attempt to fix it you can with proper tools. The easy fix is just to replace the motherboard.
Z61p (WUXGA)/2.16ghz/2gb/60gb, R51/1.8ghz/1gb/160gb, R40/1.5ghz/2gb/80gb, 600E/366mhz/416mb/20gb, Project R51 with SXGA+

xxxx can fix this for cheap.

You dump your EEPROM, send it to them, they fix it and send it back, you reflash EEPROM and done!

Example:

Mod edit - removed website and all mention of it in this thread. -Harryc -

Thanks everyone who replied to my post.

I am looking into the xxxxxx forum and it looks like I may be able to work on my T21 eprom.
One question I have is that:

I have access to an I2C module used by National Instruments for testing and is connected to PC by USB. Can I use this module and run the programs mentioned in xxxxxx and get the thing repaired?

Thanks,

While I appreciate the fact that you are just trying to clear a BIOS error, the area we're getting into here is not allowed on the forum because the information can be used to clear passwords. You've gotten what you came for, Thread locked.
