T23 ethernet card not working

#1 Post by rbi » Fri Jun 13, 2008 9:44 pm

I have used my T23 for 6 years and its min pci ethernet Intel Pro10/100 was working fine until recently. I bought my new R61 and switch the ethernet cable between these two by pluggling and unplugging frequently(not thinking of using WIFI for now). R61 is vista preloaded and T23 win2000 pro sp4. Now T23 always has the information the ethernet card has no resource to use and always when the system boots there is a message saying boot agent was not initialised and the network card configuration was corrupted.

I was wondering if that problem is due to plugging or unplugging or one time when the thunderstorm occured I was still using it (but I can still use it several times after that). I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and hardwares several times to no vain.

What should I do now?

The T23 uses a small ethernet card about 11cm x 18cm (generally referred to as the CDC; communications daughter card) which is secured by two screws inside the larger bay on the bottom of the system. Next to that CDC is the MiniPCI slot and it is used for either the modem or modem/wireless combo cards. If you indeed have (had) an Intel Pro 10/100 MiniPCI card in your T23, then has the CDC been removed?

As far as the ethernet port not working, you might want to look inside the RJ-45 jack and make sure that the prongs are not bent out of position.
