T30 Battery latches missing ...

#1 Post by FreddyH60 » Thu Jun 19, 2008 4:06 pm

On a T30, I have a missing (broken off?) battery latches (glider on the bottom to release the battery). The only way to release the battery is to use a screwdriver to push the remaining part & spring back.

In the HMM I found no FRU part number, nor replacement instructions. Anyone have any idea what I can do with this ? Or should I just leave it 'asis' ?

Thanks in advance,

Freddy

On a T30, the battery latch comes in a kit with several other base parts. The part number is 46L6593 and it is shown here. That kit costs $114 from Lenovo US. You are MUCH better off finding a T30 base plastics assm on EBay and replacing the latch yourself. I 'think' you'd have to remove the systemboard to replace it...or else just use the screwdriver :)

The easiest and cheapest way would be to either put a WTB (want to buy) or LF (looking for) ad in our Market forum.
Or buy a used bottom-only on eBay.

Just looking at it, they seem to be the same as in a T2x.
If it's only the button, you can pop that in from the outside. No need to take it apart.

Thx for your replies. I'll try to get a base-plate from my source and replace the latch.
