In a T23, is the 6% increase noticeable if I were to replace a 1.13GHz CPU with a 1.20GHz CPU?
Or would it only be something to brag about?

The only benefit that I see is that I have to type one less character when describing the system
. I've never tried to benchmark otherwise identically configured T23s with 1.13Ghz and 1.2Ghz CPUs. I treat a 6% difference as well within the bounds of repeatability as to be negligible. Adding 7 minutes (or conversely, saving me the seven minutes) for a task which already takes 120 minutes doesn't really impress me all that much. Certainly if the 1.2Ghz CPU costs the same as the 1.13Ghz, then why not?

The only difference I've noticed (it's been a while though) is that 1.2 was hotter than 1.13, although not by that much of a margin.
The feeling of having a "maxed-out" machine is a great one, though.

I would agree that the 1.2 seems to go a bit hotter. Not noticably faster. Hard drive will make a bigger difference.ajkula66 wrote:The only difference I've noticed (it's been a while though) is that 1.2 was hotter than 1.13, although not by that much of a margin.

hotter yes, but i only used my 1.13 for a week before i got a good deal on a few pIII cpu's that it had a 1.2 in the pack, and now I seemed to have misplaced my 1.13 I was going to put in another pIII laptop i acquired for free, instead that one has a 800mhz p3 instead of the celeron...under normal operating temps, the 1.13 did seem cooler on my temp readings

Thanks for the input. So apart from the Feel Good Factor, there isn't much else going for the 1.20GHz.
